NOMAD
As a project for the Moholy-Nagy László Scholarship, I designed a furniture collection for the Nyír-Demonich wood factory and packaging company. The aim of the project was to upcycle their waste material from everyday production.
The NOMAD furniture collection is made for urban nomad people, who like to experiment with their life and are often on the move, so the space has to adapt to their constant change.
Here you can view a short presentation movie about the project by the Hungarian Design Council.
They are flatpack, mostly modular pieces of different type of objects, ranging from sitting furniture to storage boxes.
My idea is to show the beauty of the imperfection and fractility of the plywood sheets, so we invented a new method of the restructuring to reunion remainder pieces. To use the unique aluminium hinges invented by the company was in the application brief, but I have supplemented it with using colorful ropes - giving the furniture line a playful character and the option of customization.
I designed a full graphical identity ranging from packaging to patterns used on the objects. It was inspired by the nomadic lifestyle and the geometric shapes of the furnitures
